is with great sorrow to hear of the sad and untimely passing of Professor
Farzad Sharifian of Monash university, Australia.
Sharifian was chair in cultural linguistics in Monash and the series editor of
cultural linguistics for such internationally-renowned publishers as Routledge,
Springer and John Benjamins. He also acted as the editor-in-chief and
editorial/advisory board member of some scholarly journals and was a prolific
author of a vast range of papers published in quality high-impact journals
throughout the world. We are so proud that his renown has now spread across the
world of linguistics.
hereby, express our heartfelt condolences and sympathy on this great loss, to
the international (applied) linguistics community and especially our fellow
colleagues and researchers, dear students, the grieving TELLSI community, and
particularly his bereaved family and relatives. Professor Sharifian will be
missed and remembered by us all for his immense knowledge, consummate
professionalism and kind heart.
